*sigh*

Well, it's official. The Dream Job that I interviewed for on Monday is another "thanks but no thanks".

I called their recruiter this afternoon to see where they were at in their decision, and she said she'd talk to the account manager and call me back. Instead, she e-mailed me and said they were moving forward with other candidates. Then I got a standard form e-mail ten minutes later saying the same thing. I really wish she would have called me instead. Maybe I'm being old-fashioned, but that would have been so much more personal.

Bleah. That's how I feel right now. Just bleah.

This is, unfortunately, becoming standard operating procedure.

Don't let it spoil your weekend.

Don't even get me started on "you didn't get the job" etiquette. It seems that I either never hear anything back unless I have to make the call on my own. I'm not looking for new stuff, just maybe a change and it has been very frustrating.

You'll find something!

It was obviously NOT your dream job!
Things work out that way!

Sorry, Matt.

...but your real dream job WILL come along anytime.

Good luck on the next one.

Just a suggestion my friend - since you said that you really wanted this job and felt you had done well on the interview, call the recruter/HR person back - tell them that you really wanted the job and you thought you had nailed the interview - could they tell you why you were passed over - was it something in the interview, did the other candidate have better qualifications? Tell them you want to try to improve your interview skills and see where you are weak so you can improve yourself... I am sure they will giev you some feedback and it will help prepare you for the next interview...

Just a suggestion from an old Vocational Counsleor...

Thanks for all the warm feedback. :)

Spider, they said I performed well in the interview, but they wanted someone with more experience in publicly-traded firms, especially with SOX compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). Since I haven't worked with a publicly-traded firm before, I have no background there ...
