And then there were three.

The nursery I interviewed at offered me a job.

I was offered a temp-to-hire position which I'm currently working at.

I came home from work today and had a voice message ... from the firm I had been with for seven years before leaving a little over a year ago. They want to replace an account manager and called to see if I'd consider coming back.

I was more than a little amused to hear from them. I called the manager back (who is now their controller) and we actually had a good conversation. So, we're going to get together for lunch and discuss what they have in mind. I don't have any big desire to work with them again unless there have been some major changes in the culture of their finance department, but I think this person knows where I'm coming from and what the negatives were that made me leave. We will have a very frank discussion when we get together, and I'll see what she has to say and offer to me. I, in turn, will let her know what I would have to be offered to consider returning.

I feel very important lately. But I'll try not to let it go to my head. It's looking fat enough lately as it is ...

My boss' boss quit today. While there's a certain "the devil you know" hesitancy about what will happen, we're generally dancing in the streets here in NYC (he was based in London).

When it rains, it pours. After all, you ARE in Seattle, Matt. :-)

Your head isn't fat :)

and congratulations on the offers coming in. I think it's great, great news, and it's got to feel wonderful. You already know this, but be careful about returning to the evil you know . . . coporate cultures rarely change, in my experience. But I think it's wonderful that you have your pick. Spread a little of that positive vibe my way, please!

I've had four jobs since I got out of college. If any of the first three called me, I'd jump at the chance to go back to work for them.

The fourth was the job from hell. If they actually called, I think I'd love the opportunity to just tell them: NO. NO WAY. NEVER. NOT ANYTIME DURING THE REST OF MY LIFE. But, thanks for calling.

I was gonna say what Scott said. ;-)
Even if you don't go back, it's nice to be asked, isn't it?

Agreed, LSL - but I actually loved the culture of the firm as a whole. There was an imbalance of power and a lot of micromanaging in the finance department while I was there, though. But, I know of some major changes in structure that have already happened in the past year ... so, it's worth a discussion. :)

It is wonderful to be wanted - especially in the employment world. Hope your discussion is beneficial to you...

OK, so this is the second time you've mentioned "fat" in recent posts. Remember, for every negative thing you say about yourself, you have to say THREE good things. Get started.....

Good for you, Matt.
