Fly the Friendly Skies. Just Don't Try to Land.

Matterdays isn't big on flying. I used to love it, when I was younger. And I'm okay if I'm flying with someone, especially my Scott. But get me alone on a plane, and all I can think of is the fact that I'm strapped in a pressurized aluminum tube, being shot through the air six miles above the earth with no viable exit - and having to pay for the experience. I'm usually okay with takeoffs, but landings can be a little nervous.

THIS did not make me feel any better:

Did you think about me when you saw this? I just hope that the air hostesses had the coffee cups put away!

Oh, no, no, no... I did not need to see that. I've had a serious fear of flying ever since I took a small-plane shuttle from Washington to NY and the pilot had to circle Laguardia for an hour in the worst snow storm in 20 years.

Huge fear of flying right here too!!

Me too. Hovering above Boston in a 6-seater, unable to land on account of weather, has put me off air travel. 9/11 didn't help either. Call me a wimp, but it seems I'm in good company.

Give that pilot a massive raise. Who knew such a maneuver was even possible?
