LOVE LOVE LOVE this music ...

A few years back I discovered Pink Martini - a group that mixes many styles of music, from jazz to Latin to Japanese to - well, whatever the hell they come across. I immediately fell in love with them. They're based in Portland, Oregon (always a good thing) and have earned a big world-wide fan base. Scott and I got the chance to see them last summer at Chateau Ste. Michelle near Seattle - it was an amazing concert. Of course, that was in part due to the fact that it was a winery ... so we enjoyed food and wine during the concert. But it's really an experience to watch them perform. Amazing pianist, amazing instrumentalists (an old friend of mine has toured/recorded with them playing cello), and one of the most gorgeous singers in existence. Yes, I referred to a female as gorgeous - how can you blame me?? Look at those eyes! And legs!! (In a look-but-don't-touch sorta way ... )

A little over 4 minutes long - I think this was taken from an appearance on an Italian TV show. But me like - me like long time.

Matt, you're so cool. So is Pink Martini! I just got their "Hang On Little Tomato" from a friend for my b-day. And I listened to "Sympathique" all the time in Japan. It has a strong Portland connotation for me, so it helped keep me from getting too homesick at times. Great video!

They are truly amazing. Incredible music. Remind me to tell you sometime about a "less than appropriate for the blog" tale. You'll find them semi-frequently on the Portland PBS station.....not that that'll help you in Seattle...just telling you. To make you jealous.

OMG, I was at that concert! Wasn't that amazing? It was one of the highlights of my summer, especially since I was there with some friends who are total food and wine buffs. We had lobster rolls, herb-roasted asparagus and "oh-my-god" peaches (named such since you can't help but say it when you take your first bite)from Pike Place Market that we sliced up and floated in the wine.

Oooh....is it summer yet?

I can't help but dance when I hear Pink Martini, especially after a couple of glasses of wine. So much fun...

Rumor has it that we might hit 70 degrees here on Friday. Time for some Pink Martini and peaches soaked in wine.
