What Can You See From Where You’re Sitting Right Now? My iMac, Rolodex, a calculator, telephone, two Bic pens, a Sharpie, a bowl of paperclips (I made the bowl in ceramics class during college -- it's pretty ugly), a lamp, The Elements of Grammar, a timetable showing corresponding times in Rochester and Bangalore, and a framed photograph of balloons released at my father's memorial service along with a poem written by my mother about the photograph.

What is the average flying speed of a swallow? I have been known to swallow. Sometimes it only takes a couple of minutes, sometimes 15-20. I've never done it while flying, even in my taxi.
