I'm doing it late this month.
Composing a 12 of 12 post is hard on a weekday ... especially on a Monday. I always end up with a few pics of my commute to work, a few trips of my commute home (not much interesting to take pictures of while actually AT work), and a few random pictures at home in the evening.
*YAWN*
So while I have a few commute pics and after-work pics, I though I'd just post pics of some things that make me happy. A little pick-me-up is in order these days.
So, Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you April, 2010 12 of 12 from Seattle, Washington, USA.
This poor guy has been walking around on this corner, dressed as the Statue of Liberty, for at least a month. He's an advertisement for a local tax-preparation agency. Not exactly sure what Lady Liberty has to do with filing your taxes. And neither does the hipster dude frantically waiting for the light to change so he can cross the street.
Scott's birthday was last week (21 at last!!!). The bouquet of flowers I had delivered to the house is gradually opening ... roses, fragrant Stargazer lilies, and snapdragons. Purty ...
One of the garden statues out back, starting to be hidden by the red-twig dogwood. It's always cool in the fall to see the statues that have been hidden by summer foliage. Now it's time to say goodbye as this one starts to get covered up again ...
Years ago on a vacation in Paris, we stayed a block away from the Baccarat store in Place de Madeleine. This set of wine glasses came back with us. I've never seen Scott sweat as hard as he did in customs back here in Seattle. The suitcase containing the crystal was the only one they didn't ask him to open.
A very dear, incredible friend of ours (whom we need to get back in touch with!) spent a while in South Africa a few years ago on a scholarship. She brought us this beautiful hand-beaded bowl. I love it and use it whenever I can. Lemons look cool in it.
That's it. Thanks for looking and reading. Y'all are great!

Ooh, love the lamp!
I bet you had gorgeous views of the sound & mountains today. :) Thanks for the input on my flowers...I have a couple more on that page I haven't identified. If you know what the other green, leafy fellows are, I'd love the input!
I always love your pictures. Sometimes I learn a little bit more about you through them. I think of your comment about the weathered chairs, and I see evrything about Scott in this post, and I think, those chairs are my cousins Matt and Scott, growing old and becoming more beautiful. Be blessed, my dear cousins. I love you!
Hey there Matt,
I know just what you mean, on a work day it can be a real struggle to try and be different with the pictures. Mine have only been good ones recently because I'm working from home at present. But they are always good to see, and just cloud and no rain in Seattle today.
I think Lady Liberty needs to drop a few pounds too :) But I feel for the poor guy, that's not exactly a fun way to earn a living.
Flowers look lovely too :)
Until next time...
At least ya did it, Matt -- I ran out of steam ... oh, who'm I kidding? I never really had the steam this month. Maybe next month!!
I saw a photo somewhere else of someone dressed up as the Statue of Liberty and there was a comment about taxes then too - I seem to remember it being something about a liberty tax, and so reminding people to claim it?
I loved seeing the photos of things that make you happy, and I love how there's so many that are linked to Scooter - you're a great couple! Where is his 12 by the way?!
I lived in Washington for a few years (Everett, Brier, Bellingham and on Whidbey Island) I loved it more than my luggage. I LOVE looking at your pictures because they bring back so many memories. BTW.. I also have a carved tusk AND a beaded bowl!!!
Re: the crystal knife rests. There's a comedienne named Loretta Larouche who does a routine aimed at women who have gorgeous china sets and use them only at Christmas because they're "too good" for the family to use every day. "What are you waiting for," she asks, to hand them down unused for the second wife?"
If you've got crystal knife rests, have the guys over and USE the crystal knife rests. Put out the good stuff and tell your friends they're worth it! Who better to use it for?
Will - you're absolutely right!!!! Come over for dinner and you'll get all the best. Even if we serve mac n' cheese on them.
You're a sweetheart; actually, we're overdue for a visit to Seattle. If it happens, I'd love to meet you guys!
I always love your 12 of 12's :)
